Houghton Road Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad
STATUS: completed
Construction started in March 2017, and took approximately two years to complete. This project consisted of replacing the existing bridge with two bridges that accommodate three lanes of traffic, bike lanes and sidewalks in each direction.
This bridge project was constructed in two phases. The first phase kept traffic on the existing bridge, while a new bridge was being constructed (three lanes) next to the existing bridge. Once this new bridge was completed in early February 2018, traffic was shifted over to the new bridge.
The second phase included demolishing the existing bridge and building another bridge (three lanes) where the old bridge was located. When this work was completed, traffic was redirected to use both bridges. One bridge is for northbound traffic, and the other is for southbound traffic.
A public meeting was held on March 2, 2017. Meeting summary
